Hi Everyone!
New at our Fablab studio, our shredder has arrived! Built locally by the amazing Mikel at FACTO Lab Barcelona and supported all the way in finance and entrepreneur advice by the much loved, Aziza thank you!! It has been a great experience starting a new studio at Learnlife around this and especially co-leading it with Pep, our creator learner. He comes with immense determination and excitement for the world of sustainable design! Below, you can see our new machine that shreds recycled plastic to chips, that can then be remodelled into anything. We are aiming to have a sheet press by September to manufacture just about anything! Pep has been documenting the journey here if you wish to follow! We have several local partners donating plastic, but if any team members have plastic at home, please drop it to the Urban Hub!
Music - Our collaboration with Eswatini Lilima School is growing, they have shared singing videos for a shared song, artwork, dance moves and poems! I am excited to see how it grows..
Cooking Everything from cutting to cooking techniques, this menu where learners are the facilitators and teach each other! We also have our greatly anticipated fermenter ready to roll out next cycle!! Designed by our in house coding expert Antoine at Domingo Club and built by our one and only Claudio ! Now we can ferment just about anything and level up cooking for the future! Below you can see our first tempeh!
Visual arts and multimedia - Came together in terms of storytelling and there are some fascinating results from comic book to character design and more!
Fashion - We have been working through scraps and slow fashion and learners have designed bags from jeans, dresses from old jackets and learnt traditional techniques with a modern spin!
Coding - All learners can now confidently say they can make the basis of a website and are uploading their own touches, features and content
Sports - Have been welcoming learners into the world of circus! Everything from juggling, Diablo to silks and circus moves!
Science - Has been testing PH in reactions, separating substances in chromatography, understanding half life in radioactivity and testing food for starch, sugar, protein and fat - just to name a few!
