Using a benchmark product as inspiration we will are developing the types of designs and starting to use the sewing machine and overlocker to produce a finished product, incorporating either velcro or upcycled elastic to hold it together for use. This is the start of the journey for us at Learnlife and we are in the process of building a precious plastics shredder with Mikel from Fablab!

Urban precious plastics

We have been delving into the precious plastics course and learning about the types of plastics, thermoset and thermoplastic products, the impacts on the globe and projects and experiments we can make using plastic as a material to reuse. To start out we ironed together recycled plastics into a material to cut and sew into a wallet and used a sandwhich press to start to understand the process and material.
